For individuals and corporates developing, investing in, rationalising or selling property and other assets, Nigel offers deep property expertise and wide-ranging commercial skills. He works with owners, directors and managers, technical consultants and other advisors — applying his knowledge and entrepreneurial flair to optimise his client’s financial and other objectives.

Nigel’s professional career spans circa 40 years and during this time he has acquired skills across a wide range of capital asset types — together with economic and SME business development experience.

Nigel commenced his career with New Zealand’s leading building company Fletcher Development & Construction — gaining valuable property skills on a range of retail, commercial and industrial design-build projects. He has development direction experience on a variety of speculative developments in Auckland and on larger urban-scale projects. These include the greenfield planning and nascent development of the award-winning 378 hectare Norwest mixed-use project in Sydney (now home to 400+ firms and 25,000+ people), the Wintergardens project in Queenstown and the South of Lichfield heritage precinct in Christchurch.

Nigel has been self-employed for about half of his career. He has advised corporate, public sector and high net worth clients and acquired a reputation as a forward-thinking specialist and for taking on difficult challenges. In the real estate sector, Nigel has worked in London and in New Zealand with international and boutique firms and he was previously Chief Executive of a specialist agri-sector and infrastructure valuation firm. He has written two property marketing books — both focused on helping owners achieve a better outcome from the sale of their real estate assets.

In addition to his property related work, Nigel has been Executive Director of a Crown economic development entity mandated with providing advice to Government in relation to major events — including the America’s Cup, APEC, Olympic Winter Games, Commonwealth Games and World Triathlon Champs. He also has SME business advisory experience in the tourism, ICT, bio-tech and niche manufacturing sectors as a consultant and with Industry New Zealand (now NZTE).

Nigel has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree with Distinction from Massey University and a Diploma in Valuation from the University of Auckland and is a Licensed Agent under the Real Estate Agents Act.

Nigel has an interest in human rights, in particular Amnesty International’s work, and sustainability. He is long-time husband to Wendy, proud father of three adult children and, when not working on his farm near Kerikeri, likes nothing better than to get out on his stand-up paddle board or one of his favourite walks.
